Belgium is famous for its big city festivals. The Gentse Feesten in July last ten days and are one of the largest free cultural festivals in Europe. The Antwerp Festivities, the historic Ommegang in Brussels and the Liège Festivities around 15 August also draw hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Most festivities take place in July and August, around the national holiday on 21 July. Belgium is easy to reach by train, and most of the programme is free.
